Price Match Scam

  1. #1
So SWIM was at a certain store that does price matching. I showed the clerk the item I was buying an item with a $40 sticker price, $27 on Amazon. He glanced at the page on my phone and went ahead and adjusted the register with NO VERIFICATION. This made me think...Use a browser with a developer mode feature..Alter the price of the item to a believable but reduced number..and...discount!

Alternate outcome, you could profitize it by paying cash for the item then returning it sans receipt to a different clerk/location.

i do that all the time with online shopping but 100% of the time the sales person asks for the link and they check it themselves from their own PC.

it all depends on how much the employee gives a shit. If they care about there job they will want to verify it. If they do not care they are just there for a pay check anyways so they will just do it so you dont yell at them. same idea with barcoding and other retail schemes. Just depends on the employee.

Just copy and paste this into the tool bar.

    javascript:document.body.contentEditable = 'true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0

You may need to re-enter the javascript: part on Chrome.

Mobile is a special case though. No developer mode.
