At the arcade where I work now were looking to build 3 more cabinets. We'll probably roll picades as original boards for obscure shit are not only crazy rare but also very very expensive. What are some suggestions you might have for good arcade games, or even homebrew cart games (ideally no older than n64) that would make an often played good cabinet? Also ideally something with awesome art on the outside.
While I'm here I may as well plug 2 games I just beat. MetalBlack is phenomenal. It's like the "2001 a space odyssey" of shmups. Also Armored Warlords. Honestly one of the best beat em ups I've ever played, and I've played my fair share.
Also, seriously fuck wizard Lord. On every level. Looks great but it is such bullshit

They did. Not many left. This one opened up with a different business model (and may be a front or money laundering scheme, but who gives a shit) in a bigger city. Not even a year old it's seeing decent attendance, and only time will tell if it truly succeeds

the only video arcades I've been in lately have stupid games that are way overpriced. one wanted $1.00 to play ms pacman...a video game older than most of the posters on this site and considering the sophistication of modern video-games, not even worth the quarter that it originally cost. fuck that.
I know/knew a dude that collected old arcade games and rebuilt them. he has a literal arcade in his former garage. I used to help him haul them around in my truck when he'd pick them up from estate sales or from foreclosed storage units.
Any House of the Dead where you get to pew pew pew with a gun. There's this one at my local Dave and Buster's that costs $3 for two people. It has three screens and a chair that spins. I didn't know that the first time though and the girl I was with freaked the fuck out because it turned so fast lol. Really fun. That machine must cost a lot, but damn man.
VR arcade machine would be pretty cool too. You don't see those around.
I actually had a dream where I was playing mk3 arcade and I picked Smoke but it gave me Sub-Zero so I kept doing his freeze move but it would shoot out flames like Dhalsim from Street Fighter and then eventually I was Scorpion and I harpooned Sub-Zero but he three an ice block right before so I actually harpooned his ice and brought it right to me freezing myself and then idk the dreem switched

But only if I'm Smoke.

Idk Im still sifting through the tens of thousands of emu files I just discovered at the young age of twenty-fucking -nine. HOW DID NO ONE TELL ME ABOUT THIS?!
That said, I always loved Gauntlet Legends on N64/arcade.
