If not, I would not recommend using butter. It burns easily and just seems to be shitty to me. Coconut oil is way better. Cover the weed in oil and put it in a crock pot on low for a couple days or something then strain it.
I bought some Korova Black Bars off the deep Web and was wrecking people's shit with pieces the size of their thumbnail. I found better edibles for the price but those black bars are potent. -

Which edibles are at a better price than black bars?
Also as an aside, I went to this festival back in April and my friend had this massive bag of trim he was walking around rolling joints out of continuously. He put it in my backpack at one point and we both forgot it was there and when I went home I still had it so he said I could just have it. I crushed up the trim and put like a couple cups of olive oil in there in this glass tupperware type container, microwaved it a few times, and let it sit up until like a week ago. I had a few spoonfuls and it's pretty fucking strong, stronger than I expected for some trim. -

A vendor I was using sold 250 mg edibles for $15 each and 500 mg for $25 so I guess it'd be about the same but the korova blacks were going for $57 since I wasn't getting dispensary pricing. Still a good value, dont get me wrong.
The korovas were hard to dose, I had the 500 mg 51/50 cookie bars and they were the same way, just kind of crumbled if I tried to cut them up with a knife. Could have been a freshness issue but they weren't close to expiration or anything.
As for trim I knew a guy who sold OG Kush trim for $30/oz and it was great for cooking with, his trim always came with a few solid grams worth of some popcorn buds too. -

See that's not a bad deal..but you get horrendously ripped off at shops...they sell like 10mg brownies.
