Not necessarily crazy, he's admitted that he's aware of and qualifies for a diagnosis of asperger's. Hypersexuality can be a symptom of it, along with severe OCD and a psychological need/strong tendency toward repetition, sameness and routine, which is a symptom he's described. Everything can largely be explained as stemming from it.
It's a fucked up disorder. I swear you can find hard data on pubmed about ASD and abnormal/atypical sexuality. For example, something interesting is that, IIRC, people with ASD have gender dysphoria at a rate of 10x the gen pop, it's something like 17%. ASD is also unusually common among females with anorexia. For women the rate of self proclaimed asexuality was also at least 10x higher, at around 33% reporting it, not masturbating, having thoughts of sex, watching porn, or actually engaging in sex.
Asperges/high functioning is an incredibly complex and bizarre neurological disorder. The list of symptoms and comorbidities, odds ratios for having certain disorders or behavioral abnormalities, is ridiculous. If you list all of them it sounds like you're a greatly exaggerating hypochondriac, but it's true! Anyone can search pubmed for themselves. -
