That was a total shitshow. The Pelicans were owned by the NBA back then. A total steal and weird to see him go to the Clippers after the Lakers trade was denied by the commision at least twice.
I believe it was a smart move league-wise because it made the Clippers into somewhat of a team so that's revenue. It doesn't make the already super marketable Lakers unbeatable und they could still rig the shit out of the following draft, 2012 to get NO the number one pick and AD. Another franchise player.
