If you analyzed me IRL it would be pretty undeniable that I was autist.

Lanny is actually the only member to meet me IRL. I was dealing with alcohol withdrawals after a prolonged binge (Drinking 5 liters of wine a day wasn't uncommon) and needed something to tide me over until I met with a psychiatrist soon. I was afraid of the risk of seizures, and I was fucking right because I actually had a mild epileptic seizure on the day I met him, in the morning. Explanation of why we met over.

Lanny could tell you. Lanny, I naturally come off as autistic, right? I won't take it as an insult. Even "autistic as hell" would be fine.

And if I'm not autistic then why have I had sensory hyper-sensitivity my entire life? Severe OCD has been present since at least my teens. Severe pervasive anxiety has been present since I was a child, related differences that correlate with the confirmed differences in the amygdala and its connection to the prefrontal cortex. The unusually high dosage of GABAergic drugs I require for therapeutic effect aligns with the deficit in the GABAergic pathway and excessive glutamate levels.

There are a wide variety of symptoms. You're probably the only person here that doubts I'm autistic. If you had been following TRT since Zoklet, along with some of my threads, it would be clear.

unpopular, perhaps overly critical opinion time: most people in tech who talk about "burning out" were never "on" or "combusting normally" or whatever state one would imagine precedes "burnout". Burnout is a popular subject among those near the bottom of the skill ladder because it speaks to the difficulty of learning, and sometimes serves as an excuse to stop. The rarer variety occurs when someone exhausts the interesting content in some field or subdomain which ends up being a non-issue: it's perfectly natural that a person having learned all there is to know about some subject is no longer interested in it. If anything the reverse is the pathology.

Also whoever picked that picture for the title slide backgrounds needs to shoot themselves in the face at the earliest possible opportunity.

Tru dat, but I don't really see what it changes.

I just think it's not very meaningful to talk about being burnt out on something before having a representative experience of it. Like if you start the process of getting certified to scuba dive and get tired of the reading before even getting in a pool and stop you haven't burned out on scuba diving, you've given up on learning how to scuba dive.

You don't have to read anything to become certified to scuba dive, for the record.

Which thing did you do? Maybe PADI or whatever is different, I had to read a few chapters out of a book and take a short quiz for the SSI certification.

Ok maybe k did. I don't remember, I did it in 8th grade. We just signed up and our awesome science teacher took us scuba diving .. though it was just at the local deep high school pool. That is where we trained.

If we wanted to we were able to go with him to .. Lake Michigan I think and actually dive DEEP and really do it. So for the record I only ever scubsd in a deep high school pool.

Ever wanted to dive since then? I think it's pretty fun, although the level of prep you have to do for a dive is a pain.

Most the diving I've done has been in tropical oceans with high visibility but I did go lake diving once. TBH it freaked me out a bit, like 10 feet down and you can't see the surface anymore, it was hard to tell which way was up at times. When I got to the bottom it wasn't a problem anymore but on the way back up I didn't have anything but the gauge to go on, it felt like I was ascending forever with no real sense I was getting closer to the surface, was tempted to just swim up until I could see it (of course a stupid idea).

Sorry to ignore the meat of your post, but goddamn, swimming upward when you DON'T WANT TO DIE, but can see the surface is SO FAR AWAY, is my worst fear. Like k just had a heart palpitation thinking about it. That is the SCARIEST feeling you can EVER have, if it only lasts for a moment or two. Trying to teach the surface , only your held breath can get you there, and you at one point know, YOU KNOW, you're not gonna make it.

    I named my computer rattex

    aldra@rattex:~/Documents/git$ cat ISS/ISS/iss_bbcode.py|grep LANNY
    'BYUSINGTHISTAGIAFFIRMLANNYISSUPERCOOL': _add_very_cool_tag,

The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

IDK bro i don't work in CompSci. I think it's a bit unfair though to just generalize and say: "Well if ya'll niggas burned out, ya'll niggas probably just stupid."

If you meant something else please correct me, but from what i gather being "burned out" in any field just involves prolonged periods of stress. There are a lor of things that can make a work environment stressful i would reckon. Also, the document/slide person is my top sec DEF CON homie Suggy so he is exempt from having to kill himself for any reason THANK YOU AMEN!

FWIW, I'm a machinist and everywhere I've been there have been people who were "burned out"

It seems to mean they've done the same thing for so long that they can barely stand to do it anymore
