never in my life have i experienced a casual counterstrike player that was good at the game, and thats coming from someone who has 1500 hours in cstrike. ive played quake, team fortress, doom, etc and those games are just mechanically different. they dont play the same.
what happens in a very simplistic game, like counterstrike is, is that people grasp the game and quickly learn how to play the game in the most effective way possible and they shit on everyone else. once everyone starts figuring it out, the good players have to either get better or not be the best anymore. and once you're playing the game the most effective way, the only thing that can really improve is in-game strategy or player reaction time, which is why you see the autistic minmaxing of the professional scene where they look through a tiny gap and see a flicker of movement and 1bang a player in the head. -

most people are fairly average in reaction times, and improve to a similar general level. a few people have quicker nerves and will excel, but the most important thing in a game of that sort is simply the meta-game. that's what the cutting edge will get you.
where a game like rainbow six is more similar to poker. very few people are capable of even understanding what it means to be 'good at poker'. -

insurgency is pretty similar to r6s and im pretty fucking good at it so with the dumbed down gunplay of r6s id shit on just about everyone -
