There is a call center near me but I heard a lot of bad things about that place, like the managers are all retards and will reduce your pay if you are 30 seconds late coming from bathroom break. When I worked at Sears they would pull that shit too. If you took too long in the bathroom they would take away some of your lunch time

Don't work in a call centre and don't work retail. Those are both awful environments to be in.

Can you use Word, Outlook, Powerpoint and Excel well? They are simply a prerequisite to office work, no escaping them.
Aim for something that requires skills and intelligence. IT bigly. Small companies. Government jobs are comfy, but hard to get. Is the local/state/federal government hiring? Any big companies like banks headquartered in your neighbourhood?

I blame HTS for posting all those happy merchant memes on facebook.

I actually don't mind retail or sales that much. I have been applying at vape and grocery stores.
I am very skilled with computers, they taught us that stuff in grade school so I am familiar with office software.

Government jobs and banks usually want some kind of degree or experience in that field. All of my experience is warehouse type jobs

Maybe he has had too many bad experiences with shitty employers and doesn't want to deal with their shit any more.

Employers that treat their employees well exist, but they have no problem finding workers. Most of the jobs you see advertised are for shitty employers that have high staff turnover because they suck so much.

I function pretty well in chaos. Sears had high turnover and the managers didn't want to have to train people so it was up to the employees like my bro Hamad who showed me how everything was run. There was no training manual or anything like that for our department, I had a cheat sheet with all the shortcuts for the computer and things that people just expect you to figure out on your own. I took it home and made it nice with bullet points, proper formating and printed a bunch of copies for new employees to use so we didn't have to train them.

But because we handled credit cards and I signed a bunch of paperwork saying I am not allowed to take things out of the building, especially paperwork I got written up and told if I did it again I would be fired.

I didn't really care though. I also took the order fulfillment form home and edited it so it said Donald Trump 1337 Fake Street and it was an order for a non existent product in a non existent section of the warehouse and I gave it to my co worker on april 1st as a prank.

You should go and check out #1 to see what is asked, see if you can engage with someone from #2 to see what might suit, and get onto your caseworker about participating in one of #3.

If you have spent some time out of full time employment then you should qualify for just about every programme that exists, so use it.

Yeah they paid for my forklift license it was like $400

I was supposed to go to a thing for people that want to continue school but haven't been to school in a while but the program got shut down. It was for video game design

A lot of those jobs I don't think I would be qualified for. I am looking at the list now. I also have really shit references and I don't speak french, but the lady at the YMCA said she would be my reference so maybe I can apply for this Census data entry job.

You should ask to speak to a supervisor at Ontario Works and request a case worker change. Just say you're not gelling and it's affecting your outcomes.

I got onto a couple of programmes I didn't qualify for, no one cared. It's goverment, the ethos is different, they want to get you signed up and in the programme, it's not their money they're spending.

They change my worker every few months and they all think i'm retarded and have no idea why I cant find a job because i have lots of experience and a good resume.

Everytime they ask me if I have any barriers to employment I should probably tell them about the torment and pain I experience every day not taking medication for my various psychological issues but it's kind of hard to bring up so I just say I don't have the best references because I lost touch with them because of my unstable life moving around the country.

You have lost self confidence and the ability to come across normally as a result of a long period out of the workforce, having an anxiety disorder, and being socially marginalised as a result of your life decisions.

Those are all valid and not something you need to cover up, like you need to hide them or be ashamed of them. Rather be able to speak up.

You find your old employments depressing, and wish to do something more challenging. Yes you have forklift training, but you don't like it, find it hard to do due stress and constant accidents caused by your lack of depth perception, and besides you want to upskill, which is an option not provided to you in employment.

Welfare can't force you to take a job. You are entitled to a measure of labour mobility. Even if you are a PhD they can't say "Well this guy doesn't qualify for x training". You are not a slave, and in a modern economy it is entirely normal that people move around to where the demand and their skills lie.

Always emphasise your eagerness to engage with the program and get better. They are basically there to help you after all.

If you want my advice and a real help, there is an industrial staffing organization called PeopleReady. It's a subsidiary of TrueBlue. They don't give a shit if you have a criminal record, and they pay cash by the day. That's $14/hr in Canada. All you have to do is 1/ contact them to inquire as to when the next intake session is 2/show up at the intake session, 3/present valid ID, 4/complete a hazardous materials test and a company policy signoff session 5/complete an online anger management inquiry survey 6/provide a couple of personal references (not mandatory, but preferred). You will be informed if you have been accepted by the end of the session. If accepted, you would report for work at 6am every weekday morning, whereupon you will sign in and wait to be assigned a work ticket. The jobs could be anything from recycling yard to sorting plant to construction (need workboots and hard hat) sites, to landscaping to cleaning to stockroom to road sign man, to you name it. After your day is worked, the work ticket is signed off by the site supervisor or site manager, you then bring the work ticket in person to the PeopleReady office and convert it into cash. Ontario Works allows you to make a couple of hundred dollars without any deductions to your base benefits. I've had to use this company before during some hard times and it is very good for quick cash, plus Ontario Works will be very happy they got you working.

My old jobs were really nice and I miss them. My co workers were toxic as fuck which wasn't good for my mental health and probably why I did so much meth at the time. I have a feeling that if I end up in another good job it will just happen again where I don't want to quit because I like the work and money but I hate being there because of the people and I start using drugs at work to cope with the stress.

I stop caring about the toxicity when I eat enough CCC's and I can just focus on my work and ignore all the retards. I don't want to do a bunch of drugs every day. This is the most sober i've been in 5 years.

Taking short term full time work can be a nightmare from a welfare point of view - you lose all sorts of benefits like your long term unemployed/socially marginalised status.

I'd just say fuck Ontario Works and start working there anyways. This is about you, not them. They're the public servants, and you are their employer, not the other way around. If you haven't worked there for the past four months, you'll need to repeat the initiation process, though.

Yeah if they cut me off I will have no choice but to do temp work. Killing myself is also an option too.

I have to go to sleep early tonight so I can talk to my employment councillor first thing tomorrow at 8am and beg them not to cut me off.

First thing to say is tell them your power has been cut off.

Then ask for their advice on what you should do.

I can't imagine begging will go far.
