   I never really relapsed. I just never tried to quit. I wasn’t going to dance around sobriety and pat myself on the back if I wasn’t ready.
   
   Last November 30th, all my friends were in prison or awaiting sentencing. I hated everything I was doing. Anytime I’d get high, I was just hyper aware of the fact that my life was ticking away moment by moment, and that if I didn’t do something soon, I was going to die the same way.
   
   Mostly though, the drugs just stopped working. No relief. No reprieve. Nothing. I just hated everything and everyone, and that made it really easy.
