The US only imports about 15% of it's oil. The USA is the biggest producer of oil in the world, with Russia being second, and Saudi Arabia being third. -

Even ignoring the whole question of the sustainability of shale oil and fracking and shit - no one even said the US should seize Saudi Arabia's oil for its own use. Oil is a fungible commodity, and one that should be denied to terrorist states like Saudi. -

Most people say exactly that. "The US just wants to steal oil". Its certainly what t2k is implying.
The US wants to control oil, not 'steal' it. That wouldn't even make sense. -

Russia is in the process of building massive pipelines for their oil. There is already one from Siberia to China. They also want to build further towards Western Europe.
They control the world's biggest pipeline already. It goes all over Eastern Europe
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Druzhba_pipeline
That connects to the world's second biggest pipeline, across the Caspian and to Turkey
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baku%E2%80%93Tbilisi%E2%80%93Ceyhan_pipeline
Russia wants to connect this even further through Syria, Saudi Arabia, and into Africa.
The Kurds have attacked these pipelines many times. It's obvious to see how a Syrian civil war has been beneficial to the West. It cuts off an entire continent in much need of oil, from buying oil. -

Pipelines (and hydrocarbon flows generally) are of vital importance.
However when it comes to pipelines there is no "west". Europe and America are divergent.
Europe wants cheap gas, while the US wants to hurt Russia, despite this being really hard to do. Europe is the US's bitch. This has even led to Europe importing natural gas from the USA, despite the obvious inefficiency of doing so.
Also why would Russia want to bridge themselves and Africa? Africa is in general an energy exporter, and their needs are fairly modest.
Pipelines take a lot of work and planning. Sometimes they even reverse flows, depending on where demand lies. Their capacity is limited. They aren't just magic teleportation devices. -

Well they owe the families even though we can't bring back their families. they owe the soldiers fallen and the ones living in shitty Vet hospitals (not busting on the hospital but the lack of funding for those doctors who many had to volunteer)
They ower the insurance companies that got scammed by Silverstein for holding info
They owe money to all the banks or hedge fund investors who got money stolen (or the insurance who paid them back while illegal wiring took place hours prior)
They owe for cleanup
And the owe future compensation for anyone getting sick from being a ground zero survivor and first responders
They owe for all of the money lost by rerouting traffic for nearly a decade to clean and rebuild lower manhattan.
And do we want the same family to be in power ?
They owe the families of Pentagon and Tax Payers to rebuild -

Africa is a rapidly developing nation and will need gas. It's also part of an infrastructure initiative that China and Russia have been doing in Africa for a whole now. They want it to be the next manufacturing state, and they want political clout. You can already see NATO support edging east. Plus a lot of corrupt leaders are giving them fantastic deals. Like how Somalia gave out 31 fishing licenses to Chinese companies, with one of them being COFA which represents over 150 Chinese fishing companies. Literally just selling out their land.
Russia is also funding nuclear plants in Africa, which... I don't even know. They recently gave Egypt 29 billion to do so. They're helping a bunch of nations do this. There's a list here.

Russia and China just want as much influence as they can. America gained influence through military means, but they're going for the economic victory.
I mean did you not see blackface at the Chinese New Year Gala a few years ago? Straight propaganda (only accidentally racist) about how they need to work with Africa. A Chinese man married an 'African' woman in it. Most watched Television program in the world. -

Africa is a fucking nightmare and they can barely keep the lights on using their traditional infrastructure. The place is not developing - that has been the meme for the last 70 years, even as the continent gets poorer, more overpopulated, dumber, more religious, and more shitty. -
