Really though you can just sterilize large swathes of a population using a virus. I posted about this recently, they were doing it to mosquitoes, and it was found that the Kenyan government was giving people vaccines that purposely sterilized them. -

Yeah... Remember when the south lost their slaves? It wrecked the economy and still has lasting effects even today. If America lost its illegal farm labor and population willing to actually work low pay jobs? It'd be fucked and probably plunge from it's scant first world position. Low wages are the backbone of the western world. Without it, we would not have the same quality of life. You can't just disappear a work force and expect that to remain.

It wouldn't have 'little effect' you moron. there are 7 trillion mosquitos in antarctica alone, they are the food source for a hell of a lot of other species. take a predators food away and it will effect them, either they'll die out through hunger or they'll eat the food that some other species normally eat and they'll die out from hunger. one way or another removing all mosquitos is gonna have a hell of an effect ecologically. you're taking a lot of dinners away very suddenly. nature cannot just replace that at the drop of a hat.
