OR, maybe, just maybe, you could look at the facts and admit you've been wrong the whole time, as you so often are?

A blog/QA sure how cute.
Also if any of those answers are actually from an attorney they would have started the answer with a disclaimer 5o the effect that every jurisdiction is different but generally speaking...
If it is an arraignment and the client wishes to enter a plea of not guilty an attorney may appear on behalf of the defendant in order to enter the plea and receive notice of the pre trial hearing date.
As to pre trial hearings there are three possible approaches/outcomes. Two out of the three would require the client be present.
1. Your counsel is going to attempt to argue that a trial is not warranted. This would require 5he presence if the client else the judge, feeling disrespected by your passive arrogance would set the matter for trial.
2. Your counsel has a plea deal set up with the prosecution. In this case the client absolutely must be present as a sentence will be handed out by the judge according to the arrangement between defense counsel and the the DA.
3. Counsel accepts that the matter will be going to trial. In this case, in most jurisdictions it is not necessary for the accused to be present if represented by said counsel.
