a word is just an audible sound made by humans to communicate a thing or concept or other, consisting of one or more syllables, to another human being. as long as the sound has specific meaning that the other humans can understand to mean, then that's all it takes for that to qualify as a word. especially when you consider the diverse amount of languages on the planet, just about any sound would likely already be getting used as a word somewhere on the planet by some group of people. it doesn't have to be in any dictionary to qualify as a word, i.e slang words are still words.
