Have they still not caught the guy that stole the bucket of gold?

One point of advice for robbing a bank, when you write the note, make it a polite note and dont put anything about having a weapon. As long as you dont use force or intimidation and dont have or imply that you have a weapon, then it is not considered armed robbery and is significantly less illegal.

There's a very real possibility it's someone skilled in special effects artistry disguised as an old man.

I've always wondered what if you make a note asking for money, making no mention of a robbery, and the bank happens to construe that as you robbing them. Then if you get caught you could argue they are the ones at fault and trying to take back something they already gave away. Seems like a pretty good loophole, someone here should try it. I'm a lawyer btw.

As long as you had a good getaway plan using those prosthetic masks would be the best way to get away with crime. If you were smart enough you'd never get caught

it's unlikely a person with skill in high paying jobs like that would rob a bank for what would amount to 4 months wages.

Perhaps they simply hire a professional to disguise them who in turn gets a percentage on the back end.

Apparently this is true. I have an uncle that did seven years for a long string of bank robberies but apparently he would've gotten much longer if they could prove he had a weapon. They tried everything to get him a longer sentence, including having a bank teller "witness" say that he was 'pointing his finger in his jacket to make it look like he had a gun'
