Preliminary: This is what is wrong with the forum. Shit is either 1. too crapily condensed or 2. too fucking spread out. 1 can be demonstrated by the fact that threads about weapons go under "bad ideas" which is an obvious misnomer to anyone who actually has knowledge on the subject and 2 can be see from the fact that we still have fucking spurious generalities and half baked forums. The whole fucking site is half baked. The whole fucking point of half baked was to keep SG somewhat reasonable. On this site it does fuck all. Im saying we need a format change. At least in terms of how the possible post categories are set up.
The Body of My Post:
Over this thanksgiving I picked up a few of my old goodies from my parents house. The thing I really wanted to get was my bow. But I ended up with a box of knives and my pellet gun. The majority of this post is about the pellet gun but before I get into that I will discuss the bow and the knives.
I actually have two bows but one is a joke. My actual bow is a nicer compound. It is old but as far as I can tell it holds up. The last time I shot it was at least 3 years ago and I reckon its been more. Its draw is probably 85 because the last time I had it strung was when I was a youngin. Anyway, my point regarding the bow is that I am looking to shoot more. If I get enoough interest on this subject alone ill start another thread but for now I am just looking to see how many niggas in space are niggas with bows or an interest in them.
The knives are pretty boring. Just shitty knives I bought when I was younger. I forgot about some of em. None of them are very high quality. One that I would like to be able to save is very badly rusted on one area. I am wondering if the sheath did it or if it was just a low quality knife prone to rust. In any case, recommendations on removing rust or repairing rust damage would be stellar.
On to the pellet rifle. This was my shit. Been doing too much drinking to have dwelt on the specific memories of it recently but now that I have it it feels sooooo good. I have been shooting this thing since I was like 11. Its a decent little pellet gun. The kind where you pump the foregrip. Solid mechanics. And shit when I slid my hand around that thing it felt like an old girlfriend cuddling up to me. It kind of rekindled my desire to do some long range hole punching. But it also gave me an idea.
I have been wanting to get my girlfriend into shooting for a while. And she is very interested but the guns I have avalible scare her. Not in the "OMG! Its an assault rifle!" kind of scare but in the "I dont want to blow my hand off with black powder" or "that caliber and that rifle will physically hurt to shoot". She wants a nice little handgun and frankly so do I. But life aint perfect and ya cant always get what you want and money is tight. Im thinking this air rifle might be the savior to my problem because I can get her some experience with a rifle style gun and get her comfortable with the process of shooting. She has seen her dad and I shoot but there may be some difference between seeing someone shoot and feeling a piece of lead leave your hands at upwards of 1000 feet per second.
Anyway, contributions regarding tips teaching someone to shoot are what I am primarily seeking. I have experience shooting but I cant imagine I know everything or will be the best teacher.
Also reminice about your childhood shooting experiences (inb4 columbine jokes).

You should stick the barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger, see what happens.

Or for a complex suicide I would use the bow. It would be difficult to set up a perfect kill shot without someone else aiming it.
Maximum edge I guess I use the rusty knife?
Yeah, lol suicide by gun or knife is for fags.

Well before you even load it up I'd suggest teaching her proper safety and all, it doesn't just help you or other people to not get shot but it makes her think I know this rifle, I'm safe with it, even accidents beyond my control are less likely to happen when I treat it with respect etc

All metal rusts. Steel wool it.
Bow hunting is awesome.
I don't mean from a tree stand or a blind, but totally decked out in camo and sneaking up on shit, walking silently and being undetected. Like Rambo. You can pretend you are a Green Beret doing recon on the Vietcong. Monitoring their movements down the trail, finding their arms caches, and then, getting so close to kill them silently by snapping their neck or slicing their spinal cord. (Use the bow or you might get stuck in an acid trip like that).
Blinds and tree stands is gay.
You can use a camera instead of a bow if you love furry things and just want a challenge.

"She wants a nice little handgun and frankly so do I"
That's because you got tiny hands. A tiny gun is perfect for you. Yea, make your girlfriend play with your tiny dick, it won't blow anything off and it won't physically hurt her and you also shoot blanks.
Kill yourself.

For rust, use CLP. It's good enough to get rust off of a rifle. Enough of that and a toothbrush to scrub and the rust will be gone

I say emory cloth for the rust, that's what I use.

cloth sandpaper? yeah if you go to the effort of working down the grits you can probably re-blue/anodise/whatever it, a lot of effort though

Huh, I didn't realize that knifes were considered firearms. Does this mean I need to register all my knifes that don't have any fucking finish on them??

yeah skimmed that, I thought he was talking about the pellet gun too.
if it's a knife, yeah I've done the same. depending on what sort of finish you want, you could spend a few hours doing ~80, 240, 400 then take a buffing wheel to it if you really want to smooth it out - just make sure you dip it in cold water every now and then, don't want to ruin the heat treatment. once it's cleaned up you can use gun blue, paint it or force a thin patina with lemon juice or similar to keep the rust off

I had my first bb gun and a shot a yellow song bird and felt terrible about it. I threw it out in the woods so no one would find it.
