If you smoked weed, would you try and hide it from them?
Would you facilitate their exploration?

It's kind of a loaded scenario. I'd be a hypocrite if I told them they can't because not only was I smoking weed at that age, I still consume THC. On the other hand, I smoke "carts" so I'm not stinking up the whole house with plant matter, so I'd be concerned that, given the current laws in my state, the marijuana smoke would bring unwanted legal attention to my house, but at the same time I don't know that carts would be the answer for them either.
In all reality though, by the time my kids are that age that shit will be legal nation wide, so it likely won't be a big deal and I'll probably be growing anyway. -

Is it really so hypocritical to want to keep your children from making the same mistakes you did? I definitely wonder what doing all those drugs as a teenager did to my brain. Maybe I'd be a super genius instead of just a regular genius. -

Its hypocritical if you're still making that same mistake yourself.
If you just tell them "hey, look at me, its probably not a good idea to make the same choices I did but I won't stop you if you want to" then its not really hypocritical, but if you dont allow them to do it while still doing it yourself, I'd say that's the definition of hypocrisy.
On the same token, being a hypocrite might be better in this case. Hypocrisy gets a bad rep but it isnt always so bad compared to the other things you could be. -
