The impact on global oil markets - closed for the weekend - could be significant given the Khurais field produces about 1% of all the world's oil (estimated at over 1M bpd and reserves of over 20BN bpd) and more importantly Abqaiq, which based on the stunning local footage bore the brunt of the drone attacks, remains the most crucial of the kingdom's processing plants.

Located 37 miles southwest of Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters, it controls all the flows from fields like the giant Ghawar field to coastal export terminals like Ras Tanura. Saudi Aramco describes the Buqyaq facility as "the largest crude oil stabilization plant in the world."
Ghawar is the giant field that all the world has been slurping at for the last 50 years.
The attack seems to have been carried out by drones. Perhaps launched from a jedi submarine, who knows. Yemeni Rebels have taken responsibility, but, of course, the jedis and their golems are blaming Iran for it, which is as evidence free as the 6 million.
It doesn't take much to have major effects when attacking oil facilities - they are basically just giant bombs, waiting for someone to take a match to them.

Like I posted in the other thread, Iran has transferred the drone (as well as several cruise missile designs) schematics and plans to Yemen through Hezbullah; they don't directly supply any components as far as I know. Yemen is able to construct them independently. It's amusing that the US, UK and pals are complaining about 'Iran interfering' when they've been selling weapons to the other side at such a scale that their economic growth literally relies on it.
The latest drones, I don't know what their actual designation is (they're not the Qassam-types that were used previously) are interesting. They have a range of over 1500km, meaning any of KSA's oil infrastructure is in range of Yemeni launch sites, and on top of the generally low-radar-profile of drones, they're specifically designed to counter traditional ECM.
The drones' targeting parameters are programmed in prior to launch; ie. pathing is done relative to the launch site so that it does not need to rely on GPS or radio/radar guidance - once launched they're locked on target and cannot be recalled. Yes because they have a demonstrable effort to undermine democratic process in the west. It's not like the US government is the only one they're working against. Multiple government agencies across the globe have been outspoken about this. It's not like Russia is unique in this either. China, Europe, and the US all do the same shit. I mean it's pretty much a game that we send spies back and forth like we're trading Pokemon cards. It was only a matter of time before this game extended to the internet. -
