this sort of 'advice' is what puts people off anmie to start with. Lain in particular takes a lot of effort to make sense of, and someone who just wants to know why anime is so popular is not likely to want or care enough to work it out -

Some studios insist on shit resolutions and I do have a pet peeve with people who take low res stuff and upscale (even if they apply fancy interpolation BS) and passing it off as HD.

2019-09-01 at 10:14 AM UTCThis is probably a weird opinion for a weeb to have but i like it when anime has a realistic art style. In fact i'm having trouble sitting through Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, because all the characters are drawn as caricatures instead of actual human beings.
I don't think it's about things being real, i love Mahou Shoujo anime for instance, and fucking magic isn't real. So, if the characters are too weirdly drawn, or unrealistically i have trouble relating to them. And for me the point of any story is the emotion in it. -
