   His company was bought out.. but he also claimed he was coerced into selling his antivirus to accompany supposably linked to the NSA and he claimed they basically fuct is virus protection over and made it available to monitor people and had fake viruses created right there at McAfee by some employers

   There always were a lot of rumors about anti-virus purveyors talking up threats and even producing their own viruses and false-positives.
   
   McAfee was one of the worst from what I hear. McAfee never had much respect for any of the corporate bullshitters who were his customers. For instance when he graduated college he literally just made up a CV to get around the whole "experience required/can't get experience" catch 22 new grads always face.

   yeah the 'security' and specifically 'antivirus' industries are shady as fuck. it's not so much that they manufacture threats anymore so much as they hype non-issues and actively work to prevent users from learning how not to be retarded so as to stay dependent on them

   Anything the feds see that can get through to the people in any way, shape or form, they will either buy it, or if they can't buy it, they will take it forcefully. Then they weaponize it. Facebook, Google and Twitter are some examples of this.
