In that instance that's your reason why having assault weapons is necessary...your average stupid American doesn't realize that, they think the 2nd amendment is just there "because". It's clearly a result of the war of independence and the realization that it's possible such an uprising might be required again in the future and as such the people need to be armed and ready.
All these idiots on the news saying "uhhh why do we need to have assault weapons"...don't understand their own countries history. -
