I read years ago it was more potent, but according to what I just read, it varies from strain to strain. So maybe pedro is better. I know a guy who grows San Pedro and works on a street named San Pedro lol

The plant contains a number of psychoactive alkaloids, in particular the well-studied chemical mescaline typically at levels several times lower than Echinopsis pachanoi: it was reported 0.56% dry weight mescaline content for E. lageniformis, while up to 5% for E. pachanoi. The concentrations for specimens from various locations vary considerably and E. lageniformis may sometimes contain higher mescaline content than E. pachanoi although that 0.56% concentration was the highest reported in any research.[4] Chemical analysis of some variants of this species have shown it may include some of the most potent of the psychedelic Trichocereus species,[1] although this is not conclusive nor does it apply to all strains of the species. Outside of its native habitat, it is one of the least known and used of the Trichocereus cacti for either its psychoactive or ornamental uses. This is not true in areas where it is the dominant species, for example, the La Paz area of Bolivia.

I never ate enough of it to do much, but I actually don't mind the taste of san pedro cactus. It's bitter, and kind of tastes like vomit, but somehow it tastes kind of good.

Some people still claiming Bridgesii is more potent, or at least consistently potent. I have noticed Pachanoi to vary a lot and definitely has a sleepy quality to it.

Trichocereus bridgesii and Trichocereus peruvianus are the two you want to grow.

San Pedro, Trichocereus pachanoi, are VERY popular but vary greatly in potency.

Most people agree that bridgesii + peruvianus have more consistent potencies not to mention "better" and "cleaner" highs.

A lot of users do not like San Pedro (pachanoi) because it's effects are much more "dreamy" and "leathargic & sleepy" while bridgesii and peruvianus provide much more of the uplifting stimulated cactus experience.

Bridgesii and peruvianus will be more like Peyote (although not nearly identical by any means) while Pedro will be less like Peyote due to its sedating nature.

If a sedated dream state sounds more like your style, give your go at some Pedros.

If potency and consistency is what you want go for Bridgesii or peruvianus!

    :volcano: :sanpedro:

Since cacti are fucking easy to grow, you might as well collect as many species as you can and try them all out.

yuuuup thats what I am talking about.
Theres something about those secondary alkaloids in Bridgesii that sent me for a fucking loop and thats without Rue. It was up there with Ayahuasca in intensity.
I think I would have a "normal" trip off about 3 to 5 grams dry.
    Egodeathflux,
I have heard the same on Terscheckii. I read that they contain only mesc as the active alkaloid though so it could have a cleaner trip than Bridgesii.

Some people are saying Bridgesii seems more potent because it contains MAOIs. That would explain the test results.

I heard Shulgin talking about them the other day, mentioned another form of mescaline that was far more potent that was present in Terscheckii. They grow fast and I have a few, maybe I'll have a report in a month or two..

That's interesting as well. Hrmmm. I want to plant a potent variety all over the parks here and the thorns on San Pedro are too small for my liking. I love cacti. I got my san pedro from a place that sells cacti exclusively.
