I always wonder what if you really don't know the password. I've made tons of encrypted drives to put VMs and the like on and then promptly forgot the password. Seems like it could be a good defense to collect hundreds of encrypted drives. It's also a more convenient secure deletion method to simply change an encryption password so it's totally plausible. -
