my subbie started seeping oil (never actually dripped) at 160k miles at the head gasket. So external oil leak, could've probably kept going for a long while considering its been seeping for 2 years already. I don't think this to be a huge deal, my old honda had a slipping transmission at 180k.

They WILL leak internally I've tons of these and if you do replace the gaskets have the heads decked and checked at a machine shop.

iirc the main problem was in the headgaskets themselves being cheap shit. I heard that they replaced the design with a proper mls gasket at some point. mine again had an external leak at 160k, but cars a year older than mine would leak internally before 100k.

I went with an aftermarket mls gasket, had engine pulled and everything decked before having mine installed.

I put 14k in repairs into my northstar v8 lucerne within 10k miles after I bought it and just fucking unloaded the thing, not putting up with those inherently broken pos
