You're possibly thinking too much about it. If you're breaking it down like that, I just made a cup of coffee at home instead of buying one. Did I MAKE $2.50 by not paying a barista to do it?

No, because he doesn't have a job so he's not taking a day off.

Opportunity cost - lost profits, is one of the main ways jedi economists use to justify mass immigration, as well as to justify increasing indebtedness of western nations.

"oy vey you're letting all this money go missing...how will you repay your national debt now?"

You can tell the argument is disingenuous, as they propose the exact opposite policies for Israel.

Ultimately the economy exists to serve humans, not the other way around.

Who do you think runs the economy. All this sentence really means is "humans exist to serve other humans". Capitalism is just feudalism with extra steps. Every attempt at communism so far has been too. Feudalism might actually be less prone to corruption because at least everyone knows who they're serving/working for under feudalism, and when your serfs actually know who you are it probably creates some pressure to embrace the ideals of noblesse oblige. Blegh. Hard to rebel against your masters when you aren't even sure who they are.

Workers run the economy, and the capitalists invest a lot of money in preventing them from realising it.

So "workers exist to serve humans, not the other way around."

ie the system is working as intended.

Humans have the choice to sell their skills or products to other humans because we agree we both believe in a myth called money. In fact i'd argue most humans believe in this myth, even Marxists.

When considered in terms of opportunity cost, our NEET masters engage in more conspicuous consumption than a Vanderbilt.
