Basically it kinda blows because I like the taste of meat but it's not too bad. I still eat meat from time to time, although I feel kinda bad when I do.
As to why, I think hedonic capacity (the ability to suffer or feel pleasure) is the basic criteria for moral considerability, I think there's overwhelming evidence that sophisticated animals like cows and pigs possess these faculties while the story for plants leaves us wanting for evidence of pleasure or suffering. How about say, instead of buying a steak at the local grocery store, you hunt for your meat. Given you're a decent shot, you would basically eliminate suffering, why? 1. Because the animal has had a good life living in the wild. 2. A clean shot kills fast without a lot of suffering, especially a head shot. -

My neighbor used to breed rabbits for food and we would go over there and pet and feed them. All of them had names and I saw many of their dead bodies hung up in a row.
I love animals and I want them to feel good and be happy but when the day comes it comes. -
