There is no reason whatsoever for them to be responsible for any of the content their users post. The single and only reason they do play the hero of the story is that they are really election-meddlers-for-hire. They are a huge source of valuable information to various political hacks, and they can also be bought and wielded as an extremely powerful leverage tool in any political quisling's belt. Silencing those on the other side of the aisle, while promoting their paying clients' political agendas, manipulating public opinion for the highest payer. Take away their cute little exemptions and they instantly become liable for their behaviors and content and are instantly open to lawsuit for discrimination and rights and freedoms abuse issues; that's how you really take these clowns down.

No one who supports hate speech laws would argue that calling a black person a nigger is not hate speech. Calling a black person a nigger is neither a call to action nor an actionable threat. So if you pass a law that criminalizes calling a black person a nigger you have in fact violated the first amendment rights of everyone in America.
