For what?
I mean, yeah, in retrospect I feel kinda stupid for not realizing immediately that I had to shut the valve.
But people make mistakes. It's life.
You don't think I encounter scenarios where people do incredibly dumb things that make me roll my eyes and think "wow, what a retard"...?
But then I realize that not everyone knows literally everything.
Like I said. This is precisely what insurance is for.
Surgeons have medical malpractice insurance because they make mistakes.
Lawyers have legal malpractice insurance.
We all have vehicle insurance for when we drive.
People fuck up. That's life. -

Literally anyone who isn't a complete asshole shares my views.
I'd bet actual cash money that everyone in here who is judging me has made some kind of equivalent lapse of judgment before but just aren't being honest. -

Don't feel bad. There's a good chance that I just destroyed a brand new coffee maker because my dumb ass kept trying to make coffee without putting water in
In my defense though I'm used to the one at work that's tied in directly to the water -

This is EXACTLY it...
I've seen a hundred flooded toilets before, but they've always stopped flowing after a minute or two.
There's some kind of mechanism inside the tank that detects when it's full and stops it from filling.
I had literally no experience with this particular scenario.
Everyone ITT is ganging up on a nigga but I know none of them are perfect.
Nobody is. -
2019-06-06 at 11:12 PM UTCyou'll get through on the thugs, the 12 grand, and everything else life hits ya with. just never lose the faith...if you do than you might be fucked.

Hey look it's another person who has never heard of home ec. -
2019-06-06 at 11:48 PM UTCThe insurance adjuster just dropped by and he was asking all these incredibly irrelevant questions...
He's like... "Where do you work?"
So I told him I'm currently on employment insurance as I was laid off.
Then he's like... "When were you laid off?"
So I say "umm... February I think..."
Then he asks me the name of the company I worked for...
Like wtf does this have to do with my wet carpets? -
2019-06-07 at 12 AM UTCYou aren't telling the whole story. Something happened to cause this. Did you have a post meth massive shit that clogged the toilet drain? Something went down that didn't fit. Or sue the toilet people.

I'm surprised if took this long for someone to ask this question.
There were two things going on...
One: The rubber flange or whatever it's called inside the tank was broken, and so the toilet wouldn't flush on its own. I was forced to keep the lid of the tank off at all times so I could reach in and remove the flange manually everytime I had to flush.
Two: The toiled flooded because... I guess I took a big shit? Or I used too much toilet paper? Dunno for sure
But yeah, it was a result of two unlikely scenarios converging. -

No ballcock anywhere tho... Is that normal?
I've spent all these years without a ballcock.
