The point of free speech is that it gives you the opportunity to come to agreements with people with opposing viewpoints. Without the ability to voice their concerns, no matter how 'bad' or 'wrong' they are you're essentially taking away their option to talk it out and making it far more likely they'll resort to violence to make their point. Further, taking away the ability to exchange ideas is prone to fracture society along ideological lines rather than stamp out 'bad' ideas entirely, especially if that 'bad' idea is immediately visible (ie. blacks cause enormous amounts of crime).

I'm specifically talking about the point of free speech, not it's legal basis but that too is largely irrelevant. The US has significant legal precedent of enforcing free speech laws onto private enterprises if they hold a monopoly on where speech can be made, which platforms like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube most certainly do.

except youtube isnt a site to exchange ideas, but project.

Sounds like a good idea, hopefully Lanny implements something similar here.

They’re also banning people who deny proven events, such as the holocaust, sandy hook, etc., etc.

Now, I have not grown up watching YouTube videos, so I don’t know much about the culture.

Not sure what I think about this one. I like free speech and I despise hate speech. Your thoughts?

    Oops, forgot my link.

Define hate speech first and I would be happy to share my thoughts.

Speaking to a parent of a sandy hook victim would seal that deal for me.

I spoke to the editor of the local paper 2 days after the event. The local paper, The Sandy Hook Beacon, 1st headline story contained information that the local reporter had interviewed the vice principal in the immediate aftermath. That same day the national "media" reported that she (vice principal) had been one of the victims. Two days after this "discrepancy" between a local reporter in a community of just over 27,000 people and the "news" The Sandy Hook Beacon printed a retraction and apologized explaining the reporter had mistakenly interviewed a woman he thought was the vice principal.

That day I called The Sandy Hook Beacon and asked to speak with the editor. To my surprise he was on the phone with me in no time. I questioned him politely as to how it was that his local reporter in a community with one school didn't know the vice principal as well as the Associated Press did. His reply was on simple sentence. He snarled at me, "None of your fucking business.", and he hung up.

Now I can't say what did or did not happen at Sandy Hook anymore than you or anyone else who doesn't posses first hand knowledge can. But I would like to know why he reacted that way to a logical polite inquiry in regard to a glaring glitch. Any thoughts on why a person would be so defensive and rude in that situation?

    Human beings do crime.

If you even so much as house a human in your home, you are complicity a serial killing torture-rapist.

Literally everyone should kill themselves ASAP.
