Sometimes I need to shut down buildings, shut-offs are fucked most of the time but it deosn't cost money here, just need to notice people. That said I fucked up a ceiling in a unit under me when I left a valve open when I turned the main on which was a massive fuck up tbh, whatever. -

2019-05-30 at 8:09 AM UTCYears, I dropped out and worked with my dad, then he had a stroke a few years ago now I work alone. it's kind of feast or famine over here breh, when the work is there money is good but I have 0 security.
Path of least resistance i guess, i never had any ambition.
I'm not quite a plumber, more of a shitty fly-by-night contractor and maintenance dude. -

gotcha well as least if it works out for you. I talk to the maintenance gonts here and they know enough to get by and go to other buildings for work. -
2019-05-30 at 8:17 AM UTCI'm picking up more clients as things progress have a mgmnt comp, a few landlords, i haven't even met some. Just get a text with a lockbox code, or tenant info do the job and get an e-transfer. it's pretty cool.
Not a fan of working for condos, the board needs to meet to sign off on payments, this may take 2 months.

cool thanks for the actual info. trying to do something different, I got a job at a vegan restaurant today but I'm trying to look out for something I can get my feet wet with and see if its for me or at least learn a thing or two.

After that you become a journeyman, and then find someone to let you put in the hours with them as an apprentice. It’s a long program to make the real money. As an assistant you’ll make what that plumber wants to share of his earnings.
When I needed plumbing work, I checked their certification/license and made sure they’re bonded and insured. It’s not just something you do on the fly. If everyone could DIY, there wouldn’t be plumbers. -

If a multimillionaire businessman Has very little time on his hands to fix the problem. why wouldn't he throw out a couple 100 bucks to take care of the problem. Its the time versus money continuum... Everyone falls somewhere a little different on it.👍 -

I’m not being a negative Nancy. No where did I say you couldn’t do it, I’m just informing you on what it takes to be a real plumber that consumers seek out.

yeah i get that, but there aren't enough millionaires around to keep every plumber in business. i was referring to myself as a normal person who would always have a better use for the potential 500+ that calling a plumber out would cost me. plumbing isn't rocket science so there's no reason you couldn't manage any fix yourself if you paid attention.
plus i get people can be busy, but for summing important you make time. you know like keeping your front room from turning into a fucking lake. plus i just resent paying 200 just for some dude to turn up to my house and say 'yeah its your cock valve thing, needs replacing'. then i gotta pay the cunt another 200 an hour on top of that for him to fuck around fixing it. i've got to be there when he fixes it anyway, i might as well just do it myself. plus i'm paying for the parts either way on top.
i'm not knocking you bill kozby, good luck with it, i'm just saying about plumbers and charges in general is all.
