   I have a store literally a block away that sells huge (gas storage) tanks.
   
   A neighbor once said that he knew a dude that bought one filled with nitrous directly from there.
   
   I'm so skeptical, though, that I haven't even considered inquiring further about it.
   
   I have, however, thought of buying one of their tanks and chemically synthesizing N2O myself. It's a pretty simply molecule. It can't be that hard, can it?

   I can't remember the laws in Canada but best I can remember Air Liquide doesn't have any restictions on ordering a tank of Nitrous but they will probably ask what you need it for or verify that you are a legit business that needs it.

    In the US, it is not federally regulated, but many states have laws pertaining to it's sale or distribution. Some have felony status crimes associated with it's distribution, others, misdemeanors, while the overwhelming majority doesn't give a shit.
