The US still controls the world's most powerful military by numbers but rivals like Russia and China have moved toward different paradigms that significantly reduce their advantage. The main strength of the US is worldwide supply lines and potential to deploy, thanks to a powerful navy and network of international military bases as well as almost unlimited resources over the last 70 years, but that's largely being undermined by internal issues such as robbery via defence contractors, reduced morale thanks to 20+ years of endless war and lowered standards thanks to 'diversity quotas'.

Russia specifically is several generations ahead of the US in a few important areas, the most significant of which being missiles, ECM and anti-air. I've written about this before but if you're interested have a look into the KINZAHL, AVENGARD, DF-21b (Chinese) and CLUB-K modular container system. This alone has made the concept of a surface fleet more or less useless. -
