The bulk of people I've known or heard about had long histories of despair, depression and disconnection - real or imagined problems with shame, social status, family, belonging, purpose or any number of other things that can't easily be solved externally.

Jesus Christ. Yeah, the shitty states like Montana, Alaska, and Fargo have like triple the national suicide rate because it's cold and dark as balls and there's nothing to do. Minnesota is every bit as dark as Fargo, but the rate is slightly less than average instead of tripled because there's stuff to do and and there's lots of gov't cuck amenities. And money. -
