   Wonder what the UK laws on flare guns are. I buy a flare gun wherever I can while visiting since it is usually difficult and illegal for me to obtain a gun as a visitor. If you can spray it grey and black, do so. Obviously it's not as good as a real gun for self defence but it is still mayhem in a convenient trigger operated package and can usually be explained to the police if you're carrying, just say you bought it for camping. When fired, it is scary and attracts attention, and creates a bright and smoky visual obstruction that you can put between you and your attacker. They also usually have limited concussive force and can burn shit.
   
   During one visit to Morocco I shot a flare into a pursuer's car and saved my client.

   Well 22yrs ago when I lived there I don't think there was any restriction on them. I had a half share on a boat and we had a flare gun and several of those hand held "dynamite" looking flares for if we sunk or got in trouble...Just bought them at the boat supply place. Of course that might have changed in 22yrs.
