Yeah, that's pretry accurate I'd say. Some people are better at spotting internet sarcasm than others, which is especially associated with the amount of time you've been acquainted with them. Star is very sweet for the most part. People trolling her clearly got on her nerves. Understandable.
The book my counselor at Hazelden has everybody read is called The 4 Agreements. It's a really good book, but my favorite agreement is probably "Don't take anything personally", including compliments. When you take things personally, you're letting other people define you, good or bad.
Personally, I don't define myself at all because I think it's pointless, but I would rather define myself than let someone else do it for me. -
