If you need to take ANY drug just to function, you aren't going to experience much upward mobility - and weed is no exception.
I disagree completely, mr. Higher education. Lots of folks do just fine with their daily fix of caffeine. đź‘Ť

True, but caffeine doesn't really have strong/intoxicating psychoactive effects.

If you're just smoking sub-recreational doses of marijuana all day, you probably will be just as productive as the caffeine addict.

But how many stoners do you know that sit there smoking sub-recreational doses?

What the hell would the point of that be?

You might as well drink decaffeinated coffee and non-alcoholic beer while you're at it.

Something about the thumbs up emoji just seems a tad too familiar.

But either way, if they're doing high plateau DXM doses and smoking spice all day, as interesting as the day-to-day experience might be, I can't exactly picture an Olympic athlete or captain of industry.

I could always be wrong though.

    You're splitting hairs.

Your analogy between marijuana and caffeine is flawed because the two simply do not share the attributes of relevance to the debate.

They are both psychoactive chemicals, but that's not relevant to the point I was making.

One will have an intoxicating effect in most cases, the other will only increase energy and focus in most cases.

    They're two very different things.

"When I gave up caffeine, the first day was like a scene out of Trainspotting. Picture a grown man balled up on the couch, sweating in November, on the cusp of vomiting, head split right in two. Then a low-grade headache that lasted for a week set in. But I was also sleeping sounder and longer, and, despite a few mornings with a serious coffee craving, I felt better. I didn’t have as much of an afternoon slump, and I was less irritable—I was using my car horn less, and I didn’t feel as annoyed by things not going exactly how I planned. Within a few weeks, I’d lost four pounds. I’ve been off the stuff ever since. "

That is an informative article, but I can't say I've ever felt remotely the same degree of effects from marijuana as from caffeine.

Or at least, in most cases, the two substances are on two different levels.

Of course though there are outlier experiences where a toke or two of some weak weed isn't all that intoxicating, but drinking those 5 espressos back to back will make me jittery and uncomfortable.

Gadzooks I'm just playing Devil's Advocate... marijuana has sapped me of a ton of motivation over the years... but that's only due to my overconsumption of it... I misused the drug. But any drug that helps you eat and sleep is okay in my book.

I also tried just going all out and with daily oral Adderall meth... that was a tad overkill for a mere energy boost tho.
