Here’s my question….
Why did my coworkers think she was disgusting instead of feeling sympathy for her?
OP, why do you feel that is the way your co-workers were responding? -

If you say so Benny.
Here’s my take on heroin addicts. No one grows up wanting to become an addict. I believe that someone who becomes heavily addicted does not have enough self esteem, or, they do it to fill a void in their life. Once they start they become helpless to fighting against the drug and it takes over their lives, then they’re helpless and I feel bad for helpless people.
Susie,
What a battle, I’m glad you were there to help in a tough love way. -

Risir,
That’s what I said when I became addicted to coccaine. After about a year it wasn’t fun anymore. The drug had a hold on me, and it was my every motivation besides going to work. I’d wake up in the morning saying I’d never get it again, but as soon as I got off work, I HAD TO find it.
The oddest thing. I live 2 1/2 hrs away from my Mom. She doesn’t travel down here, and she had no idea what goes on in my life. One day she got some horrible feeling that something was wrong with me. She contacted me, but I denied any problems, I couldn’t tell her, she’d have been devastated. My sister questioned me and I broke down. If it wasn’t for their support, I’d probably gone on much longer in my self destructive ways. -
2018-09-22 at 3:22 PM UTCI wish drugs motivated me to do anything. I messed up. I should have never stopped doing drugs because they are literally the only reason to live for. The only reason to do anything. The motivation drug addiction gave me was 6 million times better than the shit I'm in now.
If I didn't hate dealers from the bottom of my soul I'd just get going again. -
2018-09-22 at 3:26 PM UTCRisir,
What I meant by motivation was.......my every moment that I wasn’t at work, I spent time finding it or doing it. My every thought or action led to doing the drug if I wasn’t at work. -
2018-09-22 at 3:33 PM UTCWho do you think you're talking to? I know how addiction is like and I miss it.
I loved that gangbanger shit. Cruising around in rented supercars and doing drugs with hookers. Fuck work. If work takes your mind off drugs you're doing it wrong. I would have enslaved your bitchass for powder without giving a shit. I miss that. I miss not giving a fuck.
I never thought I'd end up like this. I always thought I'd be dead by now but then life happened and I can't shake it off and just destroy myself again for whatever reason.
I'm currently contemplating moving to Bangkok so I can fuck ladyboys and die of a speedball. -
2018-09-22 at 3:38 PM UTCI’m quite sure you do know. I was explaining MY story, no one else’s.
I’m surprised that you wanna go back to that. I don’t like that loss of self control. We’re all different, that’s why I posed the question in my OP -
2018-09-22 at 3:42 PM UTCI feel a lot less in control of everything than I used to. I feel completely hope- and helpless.
I don't even know why I'm talking to you. Hit me up if you need some coke. -

Here’s my question….
Why did my coworkers think she was disgusting instead of feeling sympathy for her?
I don't mean her but what's happening to her is disgusting. it is painful and it is mean and nasty because it can spread through your entire bloodstream and kill you.
more than anything it's heartbreaking. I'd also feel a little angry and feel like shaking some sense into her.
it's beneath most people to allow that to happen to them or to understand how that can happen. so it may be difficult for them to feel compassion for someone like that, that believe could never happen to them.
it doesn't have anything to do with how moral you are, where you come from or anything like that. given just the right circumstances it could and does happen to every walk of life.
the best way for it to not happen is to never even try it no matter how bad your circumstances become. that is much easier said than done under just the right circumstances. -
2018-09-22 at 6:41 PM UTCCocaine killed my brother in law. Not directly.
The stupid ass doctor at the E.R. give him something to bring him down.
Then they gave him some more.
They brought him down alright. Down to his death. -

Brother in law. His nickname at one time was "Cocaine Bob".
He was doing alright till he injured his back at work and got back into doing the coke.
He got really paranoid at the end. Extremely paranoid. -

It isn't hard to do especially with medical problems.
I lost a few friends that had medical problems that were just tired of suffering and turned to drugs.
I hate the way our system is set up. there is all this new technology and people still die needlessly. an old man died here in eugene right outside of emergency because he didn't have insurance. he was poor so and they didn't care.
some died quick, some died slow and some are still dying. -

Because they didn't have a maternal instinct?
Here’s my question….

2019-03-26 at 11:07 PM UTCIt's because they fully believe these people don't want to help themselves, they fully believe they're too far gone to cure, and they fully believe it's not their job to treat people who should be in an involuntary addition center.
