   pretty concise summary from a Lebanese Middle East analyst - basically, western governments are allowing fundamentalist ideologies to thrive in order to create terrorists for foreign policy goals; domestic problems with them seem to be treated as a cost of doing business rather than a serious problem to solve. Attacks like this come from people who see the government doing nothing to solve the problem and try to fix it themselves (perhaps not even realizing the wider issue), misguided though they may be.
