I do it about 20 mins away and it take 1 hr at the center, so I spend probably an hour and 45 mins from the time I get into my car and step back out at my house again, twice a week. 3 and a half per week total counting driving.
The rates have gone up on average since I started about 3 months ago, and this month I get $545 dollars for 8 donations. That's 8 hrs a month plus driving. I chat with the folks??? and read emails and stuff on my phone during.
Is worth it for me. Some places are absolute shitholes though, like CSL, but I go to Grifols which is spotless, uncrowded, and has really friendly & cool staff.

Oh of course I agree but like anything from giving money to the homeless and filming it, to any other form of charity; some people just feel the need to be seen doing it. -

As a result we don't have enough blood products to go around, and therefore we import blood products from the US (the US is the biggest exporter of blood products in the world).
As a result a bunch of Europeans have gotten HIV, Hepatitis C, etc from American blood products, although testing is better now. -

We have horrible drug use problems, and plenty of diseases to go round. That’s why I’m surprised. They do test the blood though. But I’ve heard that those instant tests are not too accurate. -

It’s not surprising that American corporations don’t give a fuck if they accidentally give people aids or some other incurable disease .01% of the time, as long as they meet their profit margin -
