It's amusing so many people think businesses are set up to be charities or organizations to fund the poor...THEY ARE BUSINESSES, THEIR BUSINESS IS TO MAKE MONEY/PROFIT NOT GIVE IT AWAY.

    lololol.

    lololol.

It's amusing that people think that society is set up to support the economy and not the other way around.

Society's job is to ensure a happy population safe from danger or want, NOT TO CUCK OUT TO THE RICH

    lolol

I'm glad we all came to an agreement then: socialism is good and just, capitalism is evil and dehumanizes the workforce.

there are 2 kinds of capitalists, the adventurists, and the rent seekers.

its the rent seeking capitalists that are bad.

So which are the ones in OP?

Protip: they're not even capitalists. They're managers.

You don't get to sidestep concerns about general societal decay by blaming a nameless, formless "other".

Where there's smoke there's fire. Venture goesn't get funded without rent seeking.

its who they answer to that matter.

its their need to pander to and appease their rent seeking 'investors' by milking the most roi out of their factories and production whores, which are the workers.

So then capitalism is at fault?

Activision-Blizzard are a public company, which means anyone can buy stock. In practice most stock in public companies is owned by the likes of pension funds, so ordinary workers saving money for retirement.

some, not all. a genuine venture capitalist wont and dont really care about the ratio of investment vs profit, they behave more like gamblers, its more of a win or bust thing to them, all they wanted to see is something coming out of their investment,

while the rent seeking type will only put their money in something where return is guaranteed, and will take their money elsewhere when return is less than what is expected or desired. they are the cause behind all the pain and suffering of the production whores they employ.

    yes, and no.

why do you think its share price increased when they announce job cuts ? because job cuts means savings which translated into more earnings per share. maybe instead of making a profits of 10 cent per share its now making 11 cents per share.

Maybe if they had announced a bunch of new games their share price would have done even better.

thats exactly the thing. coming up with new games is hard and slow, so when your unable to do that, the only alternative is blood sacrifices.

    and it worked.

Yeah, the vicious, random round of layoffs is the standard trick of managers who run out of new ideas.

It's like the Joker killing his own henchman to show Batman how serious he is.

no, its the fault of shares holders. mostly in the form of the board of directors.

because they its them who decided that its better to make a profit of 24 million with 5 thousand workers instead of 23 million with 5500 workers.

and then reinforced by share holders on the street where most of the shares are traded.
