    And it's not just Black&White.. it's black-washed film (Threshold.). Noir films were known to use threshold B&W
    
    one of the modern films that does this is Sin City. it has that Noir (reduced grey shades and more black and white threshold). it gives it an erie and emotional feel. you can do the same with adding red or blue or green tinge or tint to the film. create different moods.
