I drunk about one bottle of whiskey on Friday and another on Saturday.

I don't remember much, I'm trying to piece back everything I did. My brain hurts and I feel like I'm coming down from an LSD trip or something not in a good way. I have something wrong with my stomach, I think it's bile or something. I vomited some up and it's smelly and brown.

I really dunno how alkies do it.

That's the problem with hard liquor, you get too drunk, too fast. Your body can't keep up. You're meant to drink while feasting, jesters dancing, music playing. Your body needs amino acids to create the antioxidants necessary to detoxify alcohol. Eat, drink, and be merry.

This is why you should drink wine and eat delicious, nutritious foods.

Wine has become my favorite lately. Beer makes me piss too much and hard alcohol hits too hard. Red wine is the perfect in between. Cabernet sauvignon seems to be most popular, but I don't really dig tannins too much yet. Besides the 2 bottles of Sanctuary 2012 that I saved for new years, pinot noir has been kind of a miss too. But malbecs, red zinfandel, merlot and bordeaux dug. I even have a tiny lil collection going.

Not sure that defines alcoholism, 6pack a day for as long as you remember. That’s a little more along those lines. The bummer is the 6 pack stops getting you drunk, it just feels nice. I’ve dialed my intake back lately but occasionally I do enjoy being hungover at work

you seem to have the same general taste that I do, you would probably also enjoy Grenache and Syrah. Merlot, cab, malbec, grenache, syrah, those are my five basic red wine grapes that don't do me wrong. Of course there are hundreds of varietals, some very obscure and limited to region, but you can't go wrong with the "basics", so to speak.

once you get the grape types you like you should hone in on some regions, france, italy, california, chile, and spain are my top five. not only are there differences in the soil ("terroir") but different countries have different standards of doing things. Italy and France are pretty traditional but also experiment with and use high tech stuff, Californians are either uber scientific or are meditating outside naked with their grapes. Australians are almost all about technology, consistent good wine but nothing special, no soul. you get the idea.

the most important thing is age though. the difference between 1 year and 5 years is pretty huge, the difference between 5 and 10 is light years. 10-15 is the sweet spot for red wine, any older than that and you're really gambling. Not all wines are meant to age forever. But god damn, a 13, 14 year old bottle of wine is an entirely different affair than a normal table wine, it is pure ambrosia.

don't get caught up in the trap of buying big brand names for stupid money! One of my favorite wines/good deals is a Cali Syrah/Mourverdre/Grenache (Oak Meadow), 2003, $9.99! Have had many similarly tasty and priced wines from Chile. Finding amazing, underappreciated wine for wino tier prices is a lot of fun. I'm pretty sure most people that spend $50-$70 on a bottle of 3 year old wine have never had a proper glass of wine.

Alcohol is crap. Too addictive, but if you're going to do it, get a good french or italian wine.
