How far into it are you? I agree that much of the game is beautiful, the story and characters are a masterpiece as game writing goes. The mission design in the early game was pretty fun, but as the story progresses, without giving spoilers, it just gets heavier and darker. Even if the gameplay only changes minimally, if you're invested in the story it kinda stops being "fun" at some point, it gets to be more "serious" whereas like in GTAV even the missions where you're killing playable characters are kind of a zany action-adventure thing with humor going on.

If you think RDR2 or even RDR1 for that matter is "horse riding simulator" you must be pretty dense.

I'm at the part where we have to move camp from Valentine. Heavier and darker games are up my alley, The Last of Us and God of War aren't two of my favorite games for their wit or humor.

Yeah, you've got a lot of the game left to go, you're like maybe 20% of the way through the storyline. You'll probably really enjoy it. Let me know what you think of it when you finish.

Rdr1 was the darkest game in existence if you killed the sasquatch

Little taste of shadow of the colossus and the fat girls will take anything to the hospital asap

Speaking of dense, another reason I wouldn't want to play RDR2, modern rockstar games are so shallow and formulaic.
What happened to the good old days of densly packed games like San Andreas that seemed to go on forever?

This generation has been the absolute worst.
It feels like a cheap taco Bell me meal that came with free Doritos and mountain dew.

Game makers want to target people with lives.

No one wants to replay the same mission 10 times to pass when they only have an hour or two in which to play on a saturday afternoon.

Lol of all the games to say this about

You just have a stick up your ass if you can enjoy older GTA but not RDR. It is the same fucking game, done several times more elaborate and advanced, like most every major Rockstar game before it.

Great story with lots of interesting sidequests. Runs well. The most solid horse controls of any game. Great graphics. Honestly cannot imagine what the fuck else you want out of Rdr2 that it does not already have.

San Andreas has the most variety of missions compared to the rest of the series.

    "People with lives"
How sad is it that this beautiful medium has to be wasted on making restrained experiences made for mice-like lemmings.

Sometimes I sit and imagine how much more a certain game could have been and it makes me feel so depressed.
IV for example had so much potential considering the highly detailed world, they could have and should have included so much more to do after beating the main story.

The last "perfect game" I have played was .Hack GU which cane out more than a decade ago.
That game would probably scare you away, not just because of the based anime aesthetics, but the depth and length of that game is probably unmatched.
You can spend hundreds of hours with that game.
And it's not just the length of games but the content that matters the most.
Take Tony Hawk's pro skater underground for example.
That's one of my favorite games of all time.

The setting is fuck boring and the gameplay as well.
    Don't jump to assumptions.
I'm tired of the GTA formula now I still play those games because I have been playing the series my whole life and 2 I enjoy exploring the cities and the story.
I'm really disappointed about the direction they have been taking since 2008.
I know with VI it'll be aesthetically similar to V with only minor improvements and probably no major new additions to the gameplay ... but then I try and hope that maybe that won't be the case next time and they'll do something really bold like San Andreas again.
Bully and The Warriors we're good and I'm glad IV was an aesthetic evolution of that area.
V feels like the start of a new artistic era for rockstar and I really don't like it.
V felt like a crappy Netflix esque comedy sitcom.
IV at least retained some of the spirit of the classic games.
It'll be interesting to see where they go with the next game.
Most likely it won't be in vice city considering V was such a similar environment.
Multiple locations you can fly to will most likely be the direction they take (hopefully).

So it's not a bad game, you're just bored.

Rdr2 is objectively a good game. It's butter.

actually gta:sa is perfect for people with lives.

if you only have half an hour to kill, spending half an hour trying to survive 5 stars wanted level is pretty fun.

So the only real people are those who can take the time to replay the same silly mission 10 times?

"All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ!"

CJ isn't in the mood for spending $60 to buy a game to get lectured to by some nigger.
