Unless you're driven, determined and smart enough you don't deserve an exciting executive development role stocking the shelves in his bodega.

Who’s panthrax .. and what does shelve stocking have to do with anything?

Not that stocking shelves sounds pretty fantastic at this point... jkjk. But I don’t know much about it, I’ve never really worked retail.

Give a 3 sentence biography about YOU aside from the questions above.

How many people have you killed?

    Why?

Do you think they were good parents?

Baby boomers. They did not own a home when I was growing up. We were poor(ish) when I was young. My father is well off now and makes six figures but it took him his entire life to get there and he’s about to retire. My mother passed away and she died poor.

As far as parenting, there were things they were good at and things they were not. My father was a better parent than my mother. I think they tried to provide in ways their parents didn’t and bc of that they lacked in ways they didn’t realize they were lacking.

I agree with Panny, on everything he’s said, and he sounds like my Dad when he talks about work ethic. But I also know that there was a point when even my Dad was young and “green” and had to learn right from wrong. I know there has been a point when his mentors/managers have looked down on him as “that generation” in the same way my Dad now gets frustrated with his staff. So part of it is generational and part of it is learning.

Generation Z is where we should be looking. They are the generation who grew up online, knowing the internet, and being fully native to modern technological society. We need to spend our energy conceiving them, encouraging them and educating them.

Millenials are generation fucked - don't own homes, don't have families of their own, don't want to be a person at all. They are more interested in welcoming anti-social muslim men as "refugees" to replace them than in fighting for a decent life for themselves.

Generation Z is where our energy must go.

Hmmm ... without google, my 3 kids are all milinials, and THEY are the decision makers. I could be wrong on their generation .. but pretty sure I’m right. It would be pretty stupid, not to focus on your boss .. don’t ya think?

My kids are 27, 30, and almost 34.

My grandsons are almost 13 and 1 ... I don’t focus on them ... I have fun, and observe, support, and learn from them ... and keep them safe.

But I did work always. I worked from home for 9 years ….. anyway, it wasn’t until 2010 that I ever needed a resume. If I walked into a business, and they were hiring, I would get the job. In 2012 I moved from a small affluent beach town where I knew eVERYONE to a big affluent beach town where I knew no one. I wanted to go back to the career I LOVED, but had been away from for 10 years.

I went to 4 of the top companies I wanted to work for and was thrown out!!! Well not thrown out, but told politely I had to apply online.

I already had, and had gotten no response. I lived in SoCal. I had an earned, respectable work history. I had never not gotten a job I wanted EVER. I had management positions since I was 16!! No shit. Earned.

But times changed … I had to take a 50% pay cut to get back into an industry I loved, maybe even more, but I got that job by walking in that door after many slammed before.

In middle America … I’m back in the game. It depends where you are in the US, and your salary range, as to how you find quality employees and how employees find jobs.

Applying for big "top companies" and applying for a "mom and pop" small business are two totally different things. You can't go into a small, husband and wife owned business and treat it like a "top 10 corporation" that you'd wear a suit and tie to. You have to interact personally with the owners. One on one. E-mail is disingenuous, as is Facebook messaging and unprofessional across all fields unless it's that company's strict policy to apply online.

Your first course of action should always be face to face unless specific instruction to do otherwise. Kids today don't bother with face to face, because they're scared of it and don't know how to navigate it. They don't know how to handle face-to-face rejection should they be denied. They Facebook message and e-mail and think it makes a LASTING IMPACT on a small, husband and wife owned business. It doesn't. That might be best for a large conglomerate that doesn't have the time or simply doesn't wish to put the resources to personally interviewing each and every candidate for employment, but believe it or not, some things are best done in person - business deals, personal relationship birthing and developing of all varieties (romantic or otherwise), and anything else that requires direct, one on one communication. Not always is the keyboard and mouse sufficient.

So to say you should employ the same job-seeking practices on a husband and wife owned business as you would a large corporation is just silly. Two different worlds.

    @-Grimace - I didn’t ...

Nor would I be in a position at this point in my life to work for you. You couldn’t afford me 😜

Honestly, no offense, but my kids were making 20 bucks an hour or close to that before they were 18.

I owned 2 small businesses and 1 good size trade business with my ex husband. For me, I never intended my businesses to be small. I wanted to direct my businesses and someday either be infamous or franchised .. neither would be conducive to or be equated to mom and pop.
Mom and Pop does not work any longer in the US. People work smarter not harder.

Sure mom and pop can supliment your SSI , but mom and pops won’t ever see retirement

How old are your children and I’m sorry your business is not at this point a family operation .. though I do see why.

Work smarter not harder my friend .. and true support and compassion costs nothing. It just is, like breathing.

Oh BTW ... my daughter and I worked for the same top 5 corps in the world in our desired trade (my daughter held full time jobs, 5.0 gpa through college and now makes 2x’s my salary) my youngest .. he works in a trade, that if I were a boy, I would be a millionaire because it’s a trade in my DNA that I LOVE ... but I do for free, and for my family .. and my oldest, well he does because he’s lazy and incompasses his entire immediate families successes .... work smarter not harder.

My ex husband and I were hard workers .. I got the most pride from hard work.

But I have earned the most money from working smart ... he still works hard and alone ...

    That is all.

I was born in the mid 60s. baby boomer/X cusp.

our mini generation between the cusp (anyone born 64-67) is a unique person and relates to the hippy'esque days while living out the last of the analogue generation of time (becoming adults by the mid 80s when MOON PERSONs were being born)

What I have taken away from this (what I thought to be) "intellectual" exchange with Mewsik:

She is almost certainly drunk and pours out her inner most feelings in a drunken, barely intelligible rant on (of all places) NiS. She denies her drunkenness when confronted directly, even though her frequent misspellings, bizarre circular thought patterns, and everything else that SCREAMS "I AM SO DRUNK AND NEED TO SHED MY FEELINGS!", confirms it to everyone but her.

It's ok, Mewsik. You are among friends. :)

    Actually Grime, I'm a little comfortably buzzed. I'm on vacation. I have had 2 grey goose bloody mary's family christmas style {mmmm, homemade with too much yummy stuff to list) ... and I did not eat all day trying to find those last minute gifts ALL DAMN DAY lol and came home empty handed :{

i did make homemade popcorn too, during the 2 movies we watched (water ship downs and Apostle both highly recommende if you like weird movies.. my eyes were shut through apostle though lol) I am a terrible speller, everyone who knows me knows this. I'm dislexic and A.D.D, and I am sure you don't know or are familiar with, personality indexing FYI I am an INFJ... I have had to do this testing with all city, and top companies I have had management roles with in the past 15 years. It's required testing before a face to face interview .

Shut your stupid mouth and study before you ASS ume anything about me or make statements that emmulate facts. OR even better , simply ask. I am happy to give you the facts (truth just incase that is also a grey area for you)

You do realize the quote, i just quoted ,shows you are ...... uneducated and behind the times correct? .AKA your BS means nothing.

If I'm buzzed I announce it or certainly admit to it. Why wouldn't I? If I'm not, I deny it because it's untrue. I have challenges that effect me daily, but do not stop me from assholes like you who would presume the stupid shit you do. UNLIKE YOUR GENERATION I DONT BLAME who I am ON EVERYTHING ELSE and spread rumors because I have no life

I am just me and don't have a problem with who I am. If you do, your loss not mine.

The problem I have is with weirdo strangers LIKE YOU claiming they know me when they don't.Please ask me .. maybe your 1 in 100 opportunities to interview people might improve, if you learn to ask questions ... pfffttttt. I already know I would never entertain the idea to work for you .... and the younger generation is far more intutive than I.

again, It's pretty obvious why you don't have a family buisness and why you work harder, not smarter and ALONE ... it's your business model.

P.S I just wrapped 29 christmas presents .. good night

    hugs
