Didn't you say that moral understanding is dependent on culture?
I seem to remember I posted a picture or video of some brown people being cruel to a water buffalo, cutting it up when still alive, and invited criticism of their culture, but no one would do it.
Put another, more extreme way, would you take a steak away from a dog? In theory a truly moral person would, because there is a moral obligation not to eat meat. Therefore it's like if the dog was trying to eat your friend, you have a moral obligation to intervene. -

lulzarNow they are mad because he is STOPPING two wars. How about you just admit you hate the President, love war and have been wrong for the last 20 years on every part of foreign policy?
Consider that my Christmas present. You don’t have to get me anything else. Many of these people hold these two views: 1 - that it was horrible to leave the war in Syria and 2 - that it is horrible that General Mattis left, since he was what kept the President from starting WWIII or something. I don’t understand how you hold both of those views.
my favourite:Well, actually…let’s talk about John Bolton. I don’t have a grievance. I just really would have liked to have been in the room when the POTUS told him to END a war. How many times do you think he made the President repeat it because he didn’t even know what the words meant?

2018-12-24 at 11:58 AM UTCI can't say Rand Paul's politics are appealing, I kind of have to agree. It's disappointing to see people on this side of the aisle take up pro-war positions for apparently no more reason than contrarianism.

2018-12-24 at 12:07 PM UTCI feel like I don't need to say this here, but the entire premise of the US 'fighting ISIS' in Syria is ridiculous in the first place, let alone needing to stay to 'finish the job'.
1. The goal of US forces in Syria was never to fight ISIS. There's plentiful evidence demonstrating that the US created ISIS, allowed it to expand to put pressure on the Assad government and armed and funded it, at least indirectly.
2. Compared to the SAA, Hezbullah, Russia and Iran, the US-led coalition played a very minor role in reducing ISIS to what it is today.
3. Staying in Syria to 'aid the SDF' is literally the reason why the 'SDF' is facing annihilation. The reason Turkey is threatening to bulldoze them is because they cannot allow a Kurdish ethnostate to exist on the Turkish border - this being an explicit US-israeli project. When the 'SDF' returns the land to Syria, there is no longer any reason for Turkey to attack them (that's not to say that Erdogan won't continue to occupy parts of Syria or conduct attacks on Kurdish communities, but that's just because he's an insane dick). -

Is it a good idea for us to support the Kurds? Or are they just the golems of the jedis? An ethnostate sounds like something I'd automatically be in favour of, and I personally dislike Turkish people. -

Practically? For the US, there's little reason to support the SDF and by extension, the partition project. One of the original goals of regime change in Syria was to force the country to accept a gas transit line linking israel and the Gulf states to Europe as opposed to the Iran - Iraq pipeline that Assad was backing, and the idea to partition off a section of Syria was largely in order to create a corridor that they could force the pipeline through. The area they were able to 'cordon off' is unusable for that though, so the only real purpose would be as a forward operating base against the Shia crescent - the contiguous grouping of Iran - Iraq - Syria - Lebanon. Trying to break up that alliance doesn't help the US in any concrete way, but gives israel options in what both sides see as an eventual and inevitable war.
Morally? You must keep in mind that none of the areas the SDF holds are Kurdish-only, and many aren't even Kurdish-majority. A significant number of the SDF Kurds are foreign PKK-YPG fighters too, so even if you have no problem with Syrian land being taken to support a new Kurdish state, why should a largely foreign people be allowed to usurp land that is already inhabited by natives who want to remain part of Syria?
Also keep in mind that the image of the SDF has been significantly whitewashed in the western media; they enforce racial policies, press the locals into military service and according to many reports are notoriously corrupt to the extent that some villages have staged strikes and refused to co-operate with them.
***Not specifically related, but most Kurds (PKK-YPG, SDF, Iraqi Kurdistan) are extremely pro-israel. I don't know if it's practical or ideological (israel supports them to a significant degree) but in many ways they do operate as an arm of israeli 'soft power'. -

Libertarianism is pretty much dead right now, Demographic shift, identity politics and Left-Libertarianism (which was just identity politics in drag) killed it. I mean only the dumbest people on earth think you can convince a poor brown majority to vote leave the rich (meaning whitey) alone. I mean why would they?
We can see this in South Africa right now, where they're busy taking and divvying up whitey's land. How do you convince them not to do that - of course they're going to do it - they're not completely stupid. You can't explain to them to go back to their shitty slums because muh NAP.
That's why there is a libertarianism to alt-right pipeline - kids start off as libertarians, and wind up being alt-right. It's just a logical progression. Maybe if you had an ethno-state of more or less equals you could have libertarianism, but then why would you want it?
And you're right about Libertarianism being a movement of useful idiots, it was basically nothing but a jedi con job right from the beginning anyway - all the Libertarian thinkers were well connected jedis working for rent gouging landlords and other rentiers, and they didn't practice what they preached - von Mises, Hayek, Rand, etc. Even guys like Greenspan.
I wouldn't really class Ron Paul as a thinker in the same sense, more the dumb goy. -

Interesting, if depressing, perspective.
Perhaps he's just trying to cut costs, rather than actually pursue a less destructive foreign policy.
