It forces the other side to capitulate on their own outrageous tariffs. It's called fighting fire with fire. It's not like the other side is just going to willingly say, "Ok! Let's drop our 300% tariffs out of the goodness of our hearts.". Right? Trump is fighting for reciprocal trade. -
2018-12-19 at 1:35 PM UTCSpecs,
No I don’t know what you’re getting at. You and I think nothing alike, but if you’re saying no one else could do a better job, your wrong.
Soi, when you can discuss instead of insult, I’ll address your points. -

What I'm saying is, OK, let's assume he is IS incapable and you're right. What then? What is your plan?
By the way, I am an expert in American politics and the American psyche, so be warned. -
2018-12-19 at 2:07 PM UTCFFS arguing with Techno about politics is like debating the existence of God with some Jesus freak.
It's so far beyond her mental capacities to do anything except parrot back "Amen" and "Jesus Saves" to the Preacher that it's not even funny. -

And therein lies the challenge. -

there are no tariffs on US goods in my country and i still couldnt afford them.
its not chinese tariffs that made american goods unsoldable in china, its americans wages.
you cant expect a bunch of people who work for a dollar a day to be able to buy goods made by people who work for 12 dollars an hour.
thats just not possible. -

With China, the reason large tariffs are being applied is because of the Chinese theft of U.S intellectual property, which China refuses to address. -

That is literally the most idiotic reason to impose tariffs. China is certainly being sly about leveraging it, but it is also practically impossible to bring their legal system in line to make IP enforcement consistent and reliable. You can't just do it ad hoc each time someone has an issue. -

It's not idiotic if it works and they stop stealing US intellectual and proprietary property. -

You know what happens when the US tarrifs Chinese made goods? The prices of Chinese goods in America rise (that is the entire point. Hooray, mission accomplished!?)
You know what happens then?
Poor people in America fucking suffer.
Because they're the people who rely most on cheap consumer goods, and oh boy you bet your ass that shit is made in China.
Our massive trade deficit isn't just the US being more generous at the strip club, we actually receive goods in return, and these cheap goods are largely bought by lower class people.
Tariffs on China are a tax on the poor. China isn't bothered in the slightest.and they can't fix all of it, but they sure can put a good dent in it. It's just that they don't want to… yet.
They can't, and they literally have no incentive to. It's like hammering yourself in the foot in a fight to act like you're tuff. Trump is doing the literal logical equivalent of that, to pander to the retards in his base who literally don't understand economics at all. -
