No no no no. That was just a name for that genre or period of architect. I don't even know the reason for using "Post" in Modernism of the 40s and early 50s. Perhaps the "Streamline" era of the 20s and 30s was "Modernism" of its time.
Sure, anything you do today is "modern" for this period. the Swiss looking office buildings looking like Ikea furniture is what is popping up all over the place. some of them are fascinating and will be a statement for the "Economic boost" of the 20-teenAD period. but it would be nice to match some of the ornate of old into the newer architect. San Francisco essentially became a "Victorian Period" city because of the Gold Rush and first economic growth happened during Queen Victoria's period and they built in that design as well as the older style of Queen Anne. "Painted Ladies" was a big thing. You tear down one of those houses without a permit you might have a mob of people on your property. Or you could match the style of Spanish Colonial which predates Victorian homes. Both are the most common designs with the exception of the Becker style homes you see in Oakland and Berkeley Hills. A Frames from the 50s and 60s and early 70s were popular for a while, but some people viewed them as the "Ticky Tacky" houses. now they're becoming popular as first home buying. fixed maintaining the original exterior style. -
