"For the few of you that remember me, howdy. For the rest of you, well, so it goes.
I got a message tonight from another legacy member of Totse saying someone from Totse was trying to track me down (surely to win a bet on if I died from a motorcycle crash, or from an overdose of beef) which put me in the mood to see if anyone ever did anything with the Totse membership base. Looks like it died after a bunch of attempts to do something with it (I partially recall Zok and Zoklet.net, and a bunch of other random spinoff sites).
Not that I even really recall much of anything about Totse, so this is a pretty much half baked post. But let's see what other old rats are still floating in the wreckage of this sunk ship."

I remember some of pillpig's posts, and I think I might remember some of the pharmacist's posts, maybe. Either way, it's always sad to hear about the death of a fellow Totsean, and I imagine (based on his username, and the fact that you were a mod of BLTC), that you knew him rather well.

I recognize most of those names, some more than others.
Jamiroquai... sounds super familiar (I know it's also the name of a band, but in this context)... He was a moderator of Lab Tips and had a bunch of archived guides, and then, I guess he turned snitch at some point? I vaguely remember that whole thing playing out. -

There is a lot of sense in that.
I mean, I went through some phases in my life, some of them incredibly cringe-worthy.
I've also done some stupid things, illegal things, and immoral things I would like to leave behind me.
But at the end of the day, I consider those actions and those phases and those words I said, no matter how cringeworthy, part of the evolution that led to who I am today.
So, I definitely get why people want to change usernames. It's totally understandable.
But I'm trying to come to terms with some of the stupid shit I have thought, said, and done in my life, and trying to integrate it and make sense of it, rather than delude myself.
NOT that I am talking in any way about you or your life history, or anyone else for that matter.
I'm just saying that, for me, even though I feel like I was a completely different person at various stages in my life, I have to accept the thread of continuity that will follow me from the cradle to the grave. -

Yep. We also lost Cobranaut, another BLTC member. Also to overdose. From Zoklet, mark311xtc and B4TM4N (I think is how he spelled it) both died of an overdose. h0ppinlowrider, from totse, also.

Last May I decided to begin mining with 3 GPUs and I gambled all of the profits on a coin called Antshares at the price of around $6. Antshares was rebranded as NEO, and became a top 10 cryptocurrency in less than a year. I won't sell for the foreseeable future, but I'd be sad to cash out with less than six figures. Staggering return for running a program in the background 24/7 and paying twice the power bill. I think for a few years into the future GPUs will continue to print money. After stumbling into this dumb luck, I've become keen on searching for other good investments as a hobby. Fuck getting a real job if I never have to.
I also spend a lot of my time trying to figure out where to move to. I'm thinking about leaving the US after the phd. I could move just about anywhere I wanted with my girlfriend. Any country will take phds in their 20s. I had ONE, ONE real-life friend I introduced to Totse. He posted for a few days, but, sadly, he OD'd only a few weeks later.
His username was: 3XP3RIM3NT4L or some variation on that.
So, technically that is another Totsean lost to drug overdose.
He was an awesome guy, and there's a reason I introduced him, and only him, throughout my entire life, to Totse. I had tons of friends IRL, and I kept Totse as a secret haven away from them for ever.
But I introduced that one friend.
