I was 3 weeks without power when Hurricane Ike came through in 2008. Sucked but survived easy enough..the worst part was the cold showers at 5am and no A/C...but being a real man I dealt with it.

if you have that kind of money. I think the number one thing people fail to realize would be a good trade is toilet paper and soaps. people would be too grossed out to wash rags for wiping. also lots of jugs of bleach. but Im told you can make bleech with saltwater and a car battery. there is a youtube video on it.
it just best to have it ready made. toilet paper goes fast. it would take an entire railcar for one person of tp for probably just a few years worth.
