You can enjoy and benefit from memories and experiences. They help you grow as a person. Or they can anyway. Usually it takes lots of them.

You can even write a really shitty book about them.

that's such a bullshit answer. drugs are empty, hollow experiences like everything else in life. the fact the junkies cling to this one last thing is just an extra layer of sadness hovering over the ruins of hope. I don't care if you think you can handle your shit, you're lying to yourself. it does fucking nothing. wake up sheeple.

Why does the impermanence matter? Literally everything is impermanent. 🤔

if you actually took that position to heart you would view things like me. everything is impermanent, including any pain you feel and any reasons why you would want to get "high". im not going to go on some gay spiel about self improvement, but you have to have the honesty to admit that it's all a fucking circus for an audience that isn't even watching.

This sounds a lot like dysfunctional nihilism. You're the circus and the audience. Might as well make the circus interesting for yourself, neh?

Some of us actually use drugs just simply for the pleasure.

That's what all you non drug users don't get coz everything you know about drugs is just what they tell you on the telly and in newspapers. They only report the worst scare stories and then give you the impression that all drug users are pretty much like that. But they are just trying to make monsters out of the drugs and users to scare you into feeling like you really need the authorities to protect you. This is so effective in turning you into a 100% tax paying conforming faggot. Don't even get me started on terrorism and sex offenders.

lol, they've even convinced you that we're the sheep. That's fucking hilarious at just how fucking naive you are.

Basically, this. I use drugs because I enjoy the way they make me feel. Not because I'm trying to escape some kind of pain. Shit, drugs can make me feel worse than I ever could sober and I even find that to be a worthwhile - if impermanent - experience.

If your nihilism doesn't lead you to hedonism, you got lost somewhere along the way. 😘

He drinks wine like a woman because apparently there's trace amounts of GHB in it.

Some of you are seriously pathetic when it comes to drugs. You should give a fuck about your health. You live a higher quality of life when you do.

Rizzo has to be the most nihilistic person I have ever encountered.

It's kind of impressive actually, but he's so apathetic that he won't even care.

After all, it is but a fleeting notion.

    Impermanence and all that jazz.

Fucking depressing if you ask me.

    Rizzo feeds on people's souls.

    That's his drug.

He tries to sap them of any and all joy, pleasure, hope, or optimism.

The drug is called hypersadism (but don't ask your local friendly neighbourhood dealer for it, or even try finding it on the deepest of deep web markets).

That kind of attitude is often a coping mechanism. If you don't care, you can't be hurt.

While that is quite often true, you've probably made his hit list just for pointing it out.

But anyway, what's the worst a nihilist is gonna do? Set a ferret loose on you while you're in a bath?

no, that's absolutely true, and I would never lash out for someone pointing out the obvious truth. gadzooks has a very strange view of me that clouds him from seeing clearly. Also, I find it funny that Narc would think it hypocritical that I use alcohol. Yeah, I drink, I smoke weed, I drop acid, and whenever I occasionally run into some hard drugs (I avoid them actively), I'll use a little bit. I've taken as many drugs, if not more, than most people in this conversation. This is speaking from experience.

I'm not as nihilistic as you think, but nihilism is an important buttress against all the absolute bullshit in the world. Hedonism isn't even a sin, to be properly hedonistic you have to be virtuous. Gluttony, for instance, is a sin - and I don't see how eating buckets of KFC and drinking gallons of soda is truly hedonistic when you could be eating caviar and lobster and drinking wine. And how can you properly enjoy things if you have a failing body? So even a true hedonism, a philosophy of maximizing your pleasure, it demands discipline and a moral framework.

But pleasure is fleeting while your Self is permanent. Pain is also fleeting, "this too shall pass." There is a joy, and a detachment that comes from seeing everything as empty. Pleasure comes and go, you can enjoy it, as is your right as human - but why give it value? It waxes and wanes. Throughout all the pleasure and pain, joys and sorrows you experience, only you remain. And even that disappears.

So eat, drink, and be merry in your toil. But don't delude yourselves.

A perfect balance, one might say?

    A lofty and worthwhile ambition.

    One I strive for daily.
