My mom used to call in to Carl P. Mayfield's show on 103.3 WKDF in Nashville when I was about 3 or 4, and she would pretend to be an older black lady named Ruby. She would get all in their shit and have everybody rollin'. Eventually, she talked to Carl P. off-air and admitted that she was trollin' the whole time and that she was really an almost middle-aged white woman when they wanted to meet Ruby in person. We drove to the station and she brought the crew a few fudge pies. Mom was something else.

I'm sorry for your loss Hamp. This too shall pass, and it may take a while and never truly go away but i know it diminishes with time as all pain tends to do.

My heart genuinely goes out to you and yours. I mean it when I say, I wish I could trade places so your mom could be here with you (assuming shes not suffering, and actually wants to continue living), and well... Someone worthless like me could be dead rather than someone who loves and has family who loves her, and most likely a reason to keep living.
I'm sorry it's so hard, especially with the timing too. It completely changed my world when my dad died. He was my best friend, and well... Only real parent I've had...only real family I've had, aside from my son, and a few close friends,and he was closer to me than all of them. I truly sympathize for what you're going through, Hamp. I wish I could do or say something to make it better, but... Unfortunately I can't... Some people say time heals all wounds... I not so sure about that, as I have a lot of wounds in my heart, including my dad dying, that still are yet to heal, but maybe with more time... I don't know.

Have you been getting any rest? Are the plans coming together for her services? Those plans can sometimes cause arguing among family members, hope that’s not the case for you.

I have an awesome family. We've already made her arrangements and there's no worry about it. She'll be buried close to my grandmother and great grandmother and her father and more family than I even know. After all the stress and preparation for this moment I'm glad that we don't have to worry about paying for it of all things.
I've been sleeping as much as I can. There's a lot of us in this house, so I'm sleeping a chair lol.
My mom was amazing. She's the best person I've ever known. I'm glad that I got her humor.

Humor is one of the coolest things we can get from our parents. It's like a little voice of personality from them that never goes away. Kind of cool how little personality quirks like that pass on. Your boys will probably end up with the same kind of humor as you and your mom if they don't have it already.

My condolences my brother. That's some fucked up dogshit.
My uncle passed away on my aunt's birthday, two days before mine. It's really tragic that those days are now forever covered in looming sadness. Fuck that.
I hope you can deal with it in normal fashion. Wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart.
